Newton
The village is scattered around a green of some 40 acres (16.19 Hectares) and the total land within the Parish boundaries is approximately 2200 acres (890 Hectares). Although the Parish is 'Newton', to avoid postal confusion the word 'Green' was added in the 1920s, to distinguish it from nearby 'Nowton'. With the introduction of post codes, letters now find the correct destination and the village has now reverted to its original name of Newton.
