The Village Green

View of the Green at Newton from Saracens Pond

The Village Green

The village is scattered around a green of some 40 acres, most of which is used for 8 holes of Newton Golf Club.

There are bye-laws for the Green posted near the entrance to the Village Hall and by the pond in the Saracens car park. They forbid the riding of motor cycles, the driving of motor cars or other vehicles on any part of the green except for the recognised roadways. Parking is not permitted anywhere on the green and residents are asked to keep the Green free from litter. Cars may be parked at the Village Hall. The lay-by on the A134 is only for the short time parking of vehicles. Long term parking is not permitted and it is illegal to park cars for sale.
